Election Citation
Vitousek has contributed substantially to the development of ecosystem ecology through theory, experiment, and synthesis and has pioneered a union of ecosystem and population perspectives. He demonstrated that invading species can alter entire ecosystem, that tropical deforestation can substantially increase atmospheric N2O, and uncovered the mechanism of both. |
Research Interests
My research interests are terrestrial ecosystems: structure, function, and regulation; biological invasions and ecosystem consequences; the global nitrogen cycle; and the ecology of Pacific islands, especially Hawaii. |
