Anderson has pioneered the in situ detection of stratospheric free radicals from balloon and high-altitude aircraft platforms. His elegant measurements and brilliant analysis of C1O radical concentrations over Antarctica have quantitatively demonstrated the mechanisms caused by chlorofluorocarbons and other man-made chlorine compounds responsible for the observed massive springtime ozone depletion. |
Research Interests
|
My interests include gas phase kinetics of free radicals, photochemistry of planetary atmospheres, kinetics of excited molecular states, and in situ detection of free radicals in the troposphere and stratosphere of the Earth. |
