Bauman is internationally recognized for his studies on the stimulation of milk production and other physiological processes by growth hormone. His studies also have been recognized for new information and concepts on transition of the cow from the nonlactating to the lactating states. Our knowledge in nutritional-endocrine relationships and nutrient utilization in ruminants has been considerably extended through Bauman's research.
 Research Interests
Research interests include biochemical and hormonal regulation of nutrient utilization for growth, pregnancy and lactation, nutrition and metabolism of ruminants, mammary gland biology, mechanisms of somatotropin, biology of food-producing animals, and animal agriculture.
