About the PNAS Member Editor
Name Anson, Fred C.
Location California Institute of Technology
Primary Field Chemistry
 Election Citation
Anson has concentrated on discerning the chemistry that accompanies electron transfer across charged interfaces. His research has provided fundamental understanding of the chemical factors that control adsorption on electrodes and determine electron transfer rates to molecules on surfaces. He recently co-discovered one of the most potent electrocatalysts for O2 reduction ever tested.
 Research Interests
My research focuses on kinetics and mechanisms of electrode processes, absorption and catalysis at electrodes, attachment of reactants, polymers and catalysts to electrode surfaces, electrochemistry of heteropolymetallates, and catalysts for the electroreduction of dioxygen to water.
