About the PNAS Member Editor
Name Lubchenco, Jane
Location Oregon State University
Primary Field Environmental Sciences and Ecology
Secondary Field Evolutionary Biology
 Election Citation
Lubchenco has made fundamentally important contributions to the understanding of marine plant-herbivore interactions. Her insightful experiments showed how consumer preference determines community composition, identified stage-dependent consumption, and clarified the duality of competitive and predatory processes. She is a leader for ecologically-based, global assessments and integrated research programs.
 Research Interests
My research interests include science and the environment, public understanding of science, marine conservation biology, ecosystem services, ecological causes and consequences of global change, biodiversity, sustainable ecological systems, rocky intertidal shores, evolutionary community ecology, marine biology, plant-herbivore interactions, chemical ecology, biogeography, mollusks, echinoderms, and seaweeds.
