Olvera has created theoretical models to determine the structure and dynamics of macromolecular multicomponent solutions. She discovered the principles that control the assembly of charged molecules into nanostructures with broken symmetries and unique functions, and demonstrated a general buckling mechanism for heterogeneous polyhedral shells and capsids abundant in nature. |
