About the PNAS Member Editor
Name Banerjee, Utpal
Location University of California, Los Angeles
Primary Field Genetics
Secondary Field Cellular and Developmental Biology
 Election Citation
Banerjee has made fundamental discoveries in developmental biology. These include insights into signaling from receptor tyrosine kinases to Ras, signal integration at developmental enhancers, defining the hemapoietic stem cell niche in Drosophila, and uncovering key relationships between ATP, oxidative stress, cell cycle check points and oncogenesic pathways during development.
 Research Interests
The Banerjee Lab identifies strategies dictating cellular development, such as blood responses to stress, how cancer changes cells, and metabolic processes that control embryonic development.
