Chu is a leading scholar in economic demography, mathematical demography, and family demography. He initiated the Panel Study of Family Dynamics, a longitudinal survey with comprehensive information about family changes in Taiwan. Based on data from this survey and other sources, Chu published a definitive book on Chinese families.
 Research Interests
C.Y. Cyrus Chu's main research interests are demography, law and economics, as well as family economics. He has published two monographs, respectively on demography and family economics (both by Oxford U. Press), and over 100 professional articles in journals such as American Economic Review; Journal of Political Economy, Demography, Economica; Review of Economics and Statistics, Sociology of Education; Rand Journal of Economics; Journal of Population Economics; and Journal of Marriage and the Family. He recently joined the WID team of Thomas Piketty, and study the taxation and wealth-registration individual data of Taiwan.
