Location Yale University
Primary Field Psychological and Cognitive Sciences
 Election Citation
Aslin is a world leader in studying perceptual and speech development in human infants. His methods have shaped the nature of infant research. His work has demonstrated remarkable perceptual abilities of infants and has illuminated the mechanisms by which they learn the structure of their visual and linguistic world.
 Research Interests
Aslin's research is concerned with how human infants develop knowledge about their world, with an emphasis on language learning. He uses both behavioral and neuroimaging methods to study what infants know and how distributions of information shape their knowledge via implicit learning mechanisms. His recent work employs machine-learning techniques to assess patterns of brain activity that are correlated with mental representations.
