Strick is a leading expert on the neural basis of movement and cognition. Strick and colleagues identified cortical motor areas, expanded concepts about basal ganglia and cerebellar function to include their role in cognition and affect, and pioneered transneuronal tracing with viruses to unravel circuits in the central nervous system. |
Research Interests
|
Peter Strick's research focuses on four major issues: 1) the motor areas of the cerebral cortex and their involvement in movement generation and motor skill acquisition and retention; 2) the motor, cognitive and affective functions of the basal ganglia and cerebellum; 3) the neural basis for the mind-body connection; and 4) unraveling the complex neural networks that comprise the central nervous system. |
