Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America

About the PNAS Member Editor
Name Davis, J. C. Seamus
Location University College Cork
Primary Field Physics
Secondary Field Applied Physical Sciences
 Election Citation
Davis utilized scanning tunneling microscopy to obtain highly detailed images of high-temperature superconductive compounds. His images have provided details about the anomalously rich electronic structure that facilitates the unprecedented properties of these materials.
 Research Interests
Professor Davis' active research interests include the macroscopic quantum physics of superconductors, superfluids and supersolids, the structure of complex electronic matter found in transition metal oxides and heavy fermion systems, gravitational interactions at the nanoscale, and the development of new atomic-scale imaging techniques for physics and biology.
