Boyer's innovative research has distinguished him as a leading international authority on the role of water status in determining plant growth and crop productivity. In addition to developing the most sensitive and accurate measurements of plant water potential, he used these measurements to pioneer the study of water movement through plants and the molecular control of cell enlargement. |
Research Interests
|
My research interests include the metabolic mechanisms by which limiting supplies of water affect plant growth, especially cell enlargement, photosynthesis, and reproduction; water transport in plants; and measurements of plant water status in terms of chemical potential of water. |
