Roeder has made numerous seminal contributions to our understanding of eukaryotic gene expression, particularly the elements involved in transcriptional regulation. He is a pioneer in the characterization of eukaryotic RNA polymerases and the development of in vitro transcription systems which have been used to define regulatory sequence elements and the protein factors that interact with them. |
Research Interests
My research interests revolve around the structure and function of mammalian RNA polymerases and transcription initiation factors; the regulation of gene expression during cellular growth, differentiation, and virus infection; and special emphasis on structure, mechanism of action, and regulation of cellular and viral encoded transcriptional activators and coactivators. |
