About the PNAS Member Editor
Name Baylor, Denis
Location Stanford University
Primary Field Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience
Secondary Field Systems Neuroscience
 Election Citation
Baylor is known for his detection the electrical response of a retinal rod cell to a single photon. His elucidation of the spectral sensitivity of cone cells has greatly enriched our understanding of color vision. Baylor's elegant and incisive electrophysiological experiments have revealed how retinal cells transduce sensory stimuli.
 Research Interests
I am interested in the molecular mechanism of visual transduction and in the initial stages of information processing in vision.
