Election Citation
Capecchi has made numerous outstanding contributions to our understanding of gene expression. His early work elucidated the mechanism of chain termination in protein synthesis. He has pioneered development of efficient methods for targeted gene replacement in mammalian cells, which greatly expand our knowledge of how genes determine phenotype. |
Research Interests
My research interests include the molecular genetic analysis of early mouse development, neural development in mammals, production of murine models of human genetic diseases, gene therapy, homologous recombination, and programmed genomic rearrangements in the mouse. |
