Tjian contributed extensively to our understanding of eukaryotic gene transcription. His pioneering research includes studies on regulation of SV40 early gene expression by T-antigen, and the isolation and characterization of many cellular transcription factors that interact with the enhancer and promoter of SV40. He is a leader in developing techniques used to study these factors. |
