Verma demonstrated that the enzyme reverse transcriptase can be used to synthesize complementary DNA from cellular messenger RNA, and he provided the first complete sequences of oncogenic retroviruses. He also made important advances in the field of gene therapy and developed the first retroviral vector to correct a genetic deficiency.
 Research Interests
Inder Verma is involved number of Pre-clinical and clinical trials of several orally available small molecules for a number of oncology and inflammation indications. He is also actively involved in Covid 19 related research.
